Because acrylic paint is water soluble in its wet state, it is particularly easy to dilute it to make washes and glazes, which can be mixed in an infinite variety of ways to suit an enormous range of applications. Wash is the term used for paint mixed with water. Washes are especially useful when working on absorbent surfaces, but they can also be experimented with over less absorbent, painted areas.
